Community & Environmental Health

At the heart of all of our operations is a commitment to the safe receipt, storage and distribution of products. That’s the business we’re in, and success means protecting our employees, our communities and the environment. Our employees’ daily routines are designed to catch issues before they arise and prevent accidents before they happen.

Global works to meet or exceed all local, state and federal standards designed to protect our neighbors and the environment. Our terminals follow strict operating procedures, including safety measures to prevent spills or fires.

Since purchasing the Clatskanie terminal in 2013, the facility has undergone more than 135 third-party inspections — many unannounced. There have been no substantive violations.

The site has undergone more than $21 million in improvements. Global has modernized and expanded the existing dock, adding critical safety and environmental protections beyond our already extensive spill prevention and spill containment systems.

More improvements, working within existing easements and consistent with DEQ permits, are planned — improvements that will not only increase safety, but fees paid to the Port and distributed by Global to Columbia County. Learn more about Global’s community engagement efforts.
